Who passes up $750 million?!?!?!

The FACEbook has lost its MIND!

In response to this articile and this article.
“If you’re gonna be a good businessman, really what it’s about, is finding situations where people win. It’s not about tricking people into doing stuff, it’s not about being a hardass. It’s about being comfortable and working in your pajamas, because that’s gonna end up being what’s best for everyone.” - Mark E. Zuckerberg

Great quote buddy...You know what else is best for everyone??? Having a payceck for nearly 3/4 of a BILLION dollars. In a world where everyone wants what you have, why wouldn't you cash out while you are on top? The internet market is volatile. One year its hot then the next its not. Friendster passes up their $30 million offer and then you come in with Facebook and steal their marketshare. Who is to say that couldn't happen to you? Why would it be impossible for the big dogs to nudge their way into your realm? NOTHING! If you learn anything on this path to the top, let it be that that the mountain is still steep! One fuck up and you fall off the side and the next guy reaches the summit. Do yourself a favor and take the money. Then be a business-man and start something new while in your pajamas!

In response to this MSNBC article.

Apparently, tens of thousands of demonstrators protested moves to impose stricter U.S. immigration laws in California on Saturday.

“This bill is wrong because this is a country for everybody who wants to live a better life and this is a free world,” said protester Lionel Vanegas, who owns an accouting firm.

In response to this seemingly generous comment....
Why don't we just become one with Mexico? It would be great, we could give them full military protection, managed healthcare, new roads, better police, better schools. They could give us, Oh I don't know, dirty water and enchiritos. Sounds like a mutually beneficial relationship to me.

Since when is America for EVERYBODY? Like all nations, there is a membrane which separates us from them. When this membrane becomes infinitly porous, it ceases to hold its purpose of maintaining some sort of distinct separation.

Now I am not against immigration at all. I think Mexican-Americans do more for this country than many are willing to admit. I welcome immigrants who patiently prove their worthiness of acceptance by abiding by our immigration laws. Why should these honest potential immigrants be thwarted by the dishonest ones? Why should we reward those who circumvent our laws.

I am not against immigration, I am against illegal immigration!
Why shouldn't we regulate who comes into our country. Wouldn't that benefit all Americans? Even Mexican-Americans?

Two hundred years ago this country was created by immigrants. But after twenty decades, the bottle is almost full. We need to monitor the influx of new citizens to both protect our national security as well as our limited resources. Otherwise, America would be in pretty much the same shape as Mexico is today. Overcrowded, corrupt, and incapable of providing a quality standard of living to its rightful citizens.

So, if you want to increase the ease of immigration in America, then protest for larger quotas or quicker customs processing. But please, whatever you do, don't support illegal activity. That is not how this country functions.

Protest the law, not its enforcement.

The following quote was find in an MSNBC article regarding todays large scale offensive in Iraq to clear out a suspected insurgent operations area. This was the largest attack in three years.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Operation Swarmer was a bad sign.

“The fact, that it is necessary shows you the failure to date” of the administration’s war approach, she said. “Three years later, we have major offensive; it just doesn’t jibe” with prewar promises.

Without offering my views on the war today or how they have evolved over time, I would like to point out the ridiculousness of this comment. Whether you like having our army in Iraq or not, the fact is that they are there. Why should they not do whatever they feel necessary to ensure the safety of our troops. Bear in mind that these are the lives of the same troops that Nancy Pelosi would like to protect by having them on American soil regardless of political or other consequences of a large scale premature pullout.

Additionally, which prewar promises is she referring to? All that comes to my mind are the ones that say we will be in this mess for the long haul and that there is no forseeable pullout. I was promised that we will do all that is necessary.

To all that apply...You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you wish to protect the lives of those trying to protect you, then you must not criticize their decisions to use overwhelming force. Nancy I think you need to grow up and start thinking out your thoughts before you express them.

Secular Arab Woman, Wafa Sultan, with Words of Wisdom

Remember that Google article I linked to...

Everyone loves Google! Why not, they offer convenient services without complex sideeffects! Their search engine is great and gmail is unbeatable. Googlemaps kicks ass, as does Picasa! It just doesn't stop....Or does it?

While google feels it has no reason not to expand at the rate it has been, I beg to differ. When a company feels that it is swimming in investor's cash, it has an obligation not to blow that wad. When the shit hits the fan, and believe me, it always does, a corporation will be forced to constrict. Google has had too much money for too long. It has spread its hands across too many operations which are not yet themselves very profitable.

While I do have high hopes for a properly functional Google Video site, an eventual one-stop-hub for all things AJAX, and perhaps even an all inclusive hub for e-commerce rivaling ebay....I just wish that they would stop feeding their employees 3 high class meals a day on the shareholders dime.

You have a lot of money, but not yet that much. Google needs to let the dust settle a little before finding themselves in a situation in which investor confidence is FICKLE because it has failed in some of the far reaching ventures.

By the way, what ever happened to the University of Michigan (and Harvard and Yale) electronic library catalogue?

Finally ...Muslims can defend Islam!!!

I have long looked for moderate Arab-Islamic organizations which could help lead the Islamic community in their struggle against radical fundamentalism and could help them to openly denounce all forms of terrorism.

In defense of the global muslim community, I honestly do believe that the vast majority are civil, reasonable and loving people. It is a small minority of evil and or disenfranchised people who have masked the good majority with negativity and hate. I have long argued that perhaps the reason more Muslims/Arabs don't speak loudly against all forms or terror and hate is because they have not found a proper outlet to do so without fear.

Nonie Darwish is a woman who promotes the same peaceful ideals that should be propogated throughout the Middle East. While her website, www.arabsforisrael.com sounds a bit radical and contradictory, in fact it is not.

However, for those who feel that denouncing terror and hate is not necessarily synonomous with rejoicing Israel, I invite you to check out www.freemuslims.com The latter provides the ability to defend Islam without feeling like a traitor to Arab Nations by fully supporting Israel.

In time, however, you will hopefully realize that Israel and its Jewish people are not ones to be feared or hated, but rather a democratic and peaceful nation that wants nothing more than to live in peace with their Arab neighbors.
